Scotiabank cards just got married. SCENE points and Scotia Rewards have merged into one rewards program called Scene Plus. The goal is to give Scotiabank cardholders the flexibility to earn more points. So let’s take a look at the new Scene Plus program.

Out with the old rewards programs

The SCENE Points program was a Cineplex-Scotiabank partnership adored by Canadian Cinephiles.  Movie lovers could use their Scotiabank SCENE credit or debit card to earn SCENE Points on almost all of their everyday purchases. SCENE Points could then be redeemed at Cineplex and Scotiabank branded movie theaters, the Cineplex online store, various affiliate retailers and restaurants, and select special events. Under the SCENE Points program, SCENE Card holders could score 10% off on concession purchases, and earn a free move ticket for every 1,000 points.

Scotia Rewards was a popular travel points program offered on select Scotiabank credit cards. Scotia Rewards could be redeemed for travel costs booked through almost any travel website, agency, or their in house travel booking service. Rewards covered the cost of things like hotel rooms, flights, car rentals, and more. The Scotia Rewards program was beloved by travel enthusiasts who didn’t want to be restricted to specific airlines, blackout dates, or even specific seats on a flight.

In with the new Scene Plus program

Under the new Scene Plus program, you no longer have to manage two separate programs: one for travel and one for entertainment. Now members have the flexibility to redeem their points on the things that matter most, even beyond travel and entertain. The new Scene Plus program opened up to include new redemption options like shopping, dinning, or a even a credit on your Scotiabank account or credit card. Scotiabank also expanded its partnerships to include more affiliate brands and retailers to help members earn even more points, faster. Let’s take a look:

If you were already a SCENE member, your points were automatically transferred to your new Scene Plus membership without losing any value, and your membership number stayed the same. If you weren’t a Scene member, but you were a Scotia Rewards member, a new Scene Plus membership was automatically created for you. If you had any Scotia Rewards accumulated, the balance was transferred to your new Scene Plus membership without losing any value, and a new Scene Plus membership number was sent to you in the mail.
