The annual round-trip companion voucher explained

Perhaps the biggest perk of the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard is the annual round-trip companion voucher.

The companion voucher allows you to purchase any WestJet-marketed and operated flight, and bring along a second guest on the same exact itinerary for just $199 CAD or $399 CAD depending on where you’re flying.

If you’re travelling in Canada and the continental US, your companion will only pay $119 CAD for a roundtrip ticket.

Travelling ot everywhere else that WestJet operates in, your companion will only pay $399 CAD for a roundtrip ticket.

Essentially, you could purchase a first class international ticket, and even if it costs you $8000, your companion will only pay $399.

Additional perks and benefits with the card

Being a cardmember of the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard is like being a VIP flyer of WestJet.

You’ll always get your first checked bag free for you and up to 8 additional guests each time you fly with WestJet. If you fly frequently, this can add up to more than the annual fee you pay for the card.

The card also comes with easy credit card lock, which is a feature travellers need and want. It allows you to lock your RBC credit card temporarily at any time from their app if you lose or misplace your card.

The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard comes with a full suite of travel insurance, membership to 800+ airport lounges worldwide (you’ll still have to pay for access), and special cashback offers from Mastercard.

You’ll also save $0.03 per litre on gas and always earn 20% more Petro Points at Petro Canada.

Who should apply for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard?

People who apply for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard are those who travel at least once per year with a companion, and want to take advantage of the companion voucher.

The card comes with an income requirement so you’ll need to be making at least $80,000 personally or $150,000 in your household. But if you do meet that requirement, this could be a great card to carry that saves you money on your annual trips.
